Jeff Brenneman

New York University
Instructional Designer, PhD Student
Jeff is an instructional designer at NYU Tandon Online, and a PhD student in the Educational Communication & Technology program at NYU Steinhardt. He earned his BA in Mathematics from Michigan State University, his MEd in Curriculum & Instruction from American College of Education, and recently completed his MS in Games For Learning at NYU. Jeff's research interests include emotional design and narrative mechanics in games for learning, both of which were the subjects of his master's thesis. Prior to his instructional design work, Jeff taught mathematics for several years at a project-based learning high school in Illinois.

Outside of school and work, Jeff enjoys playing a variety of video games (including an embarrassing number of hours spent on Fortnite and Final Fantasy XIV), taking his dog for long walks, and occasionally brewing video game-themed beer in his kitchen. His favorite childhood video game is Chrono Trigger; more recent favorites include Undertale, Hollow Knight, The Witness, and Final Fantasy XIV. He also recommends Floppy Knights.

Jeff is looking forward to meeting everyone at GLS! (Please don't spoil Endwalker, he's playing through it right now.)
