Reginald is currently a Eugene Cota Robles Fellow, pursuing a Ph.D. in Informatics at The University of California – Irvine. Under the tutelage of Constance Steinkuehler, they study fighting games as artifacts, the Fighting Game Community (FGC), and esports in university settings. Specifically, they investigate the interactions between the communities’ histories, values, and organizational forms.
They received their B.A. in Political Science from Binghamton University in 2015, focusing their studies on the Middle East and North Africa, and interning directly for the University President’s “Roadmap to Premier.” They also received higher degrees from Binghamton, including a Master of Science in Student Affairs Administration, a Master of Public Administration, and a Certificate in Community College Teaching from Binghamton in 2017.
Reginald also has experience teaching courses on Games, HCI, and Critical Writing, mentoring new and incoming students from diverse backgrounds, working in Student Affairs across different R1 university departments, designing courses for synchronous or asynchronous learning, and reviewing academic literature in HCI, Games Studies, and Higher Education.
